Artist's Statement
My work arrives through an assimilation of observation and experience of body, psyche and spiritual life force.
It is an exploration of the the circular nature of all things and of the fragile connections between all coexisting systems.
Much of what I make arrives through a collage sensibility where fragments, images and symbolic elements are integrated,
fused, layered in order to capture a momentary glimpse, thought or view. A view of the world understood as a complex web
of interrelating and interdependent parts, fluid and ever-changing in character.
I employ a variety of materials in my work. This integrations of mediums is essential to expressing a search for balance within
ambiguous and incongruent experience. The work is a means toward discovering that in order to achieve unity,
one must avoid separating the elements.

A monotype is a singular print made by applying ink on a hard surface such as plexi glass.
The image is created by working additively and reductively with one or many colors.
A monotype cannot be replicated (editions are not made).
A monoprint designates a one-of-a-kind hand pulled print that may include or involve working directly on a
created matrix such as an etching plate, woodblock or collagraph plate. Monoprints explore the rich possibilities
of painting and printmaking together into a unique hybrid medium.
A collagraph plate is a constructive process in which a variety of flat elements or objects are
adhered with acrylic glues to a hard surface such as masonite or plexiglass. The composition
can be made in the manner of a collage (abstract or representational) or into a pure
textural surface design. A collagraph is printed with intaglio inks in the same manner as
an etching plate and can be printed as a relief image as well.
